Calling the third number, her anxiousness was on the rise. The startling ring of her own phone startled her.
She wept herself silly till her eyes swelled up with tears of shame at having falsely accused her spouse. She tried to make peace by apologizing and giving him her whole month’s income.
The spouse spent the money on a present for his fiancée, whose number was kept under the name “Uncle Mike the mechanic.”
