Step 4: Prepare the Tomato Sauce

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, stock, sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.

Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to develop flavor.
Step 5: Bake the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Oven Method (Recommended):

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Pour a thin layer of tomato sauce into the bottom of a gratin or casserole dish.

Arrange the rolls seam-side down in a single layer.

Pour the remaining sauce over the top.

Cover tightly with aluminum foil or a lid.

Bake for 1½ to 2 hours, or until the rolls are tender and the flavors have melded beautifully.
